Frequently asked questions

What are Open Graph tags?

Open Graph tags are details in the head of a web page (e.g. og:title, og:description, og:image). Networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack or WhatsApp read them to build the title, text and image of the preview when a link is shared.

What is the ideal image size for og:image?

1200 × 630 pixels are recommended (aspect ratio 1.91 : 1). Many networks show smaller images only as a small thumbnail next to the text, or not at all.

Why do I still see the old preview after a change?

The networks cache previews. Facebook and LinkedIn offer their own tools to re-read a page; Slack and X update on their own after a while. Our result is also cached for up to 5 minutes.

Do I also need Twitter tags?

X also reads Open Graph tags. With twitter:card = summary_large_image you get the large preview with image there, though.
