Redirect tracer – which detours does your URL take?

Check for free which stops an address is redirected through. You see every redirect with status and duration – and whether unnecessary detours or a loop have crept in.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between 301 and 302?

301 means “moved permanently” – search engines adopt the new address. 302 and 307 are temporary; the old address remains the authoritative one.

Why are many redirects bad?

Every redirect costs an additional request and therefore loading time. With more than three redirects it's worth pointing links directly at the target.

What is a redirect loop?

A loop in which addresses redirect to each other. Browsers give up with an error after a few attempts – the page is then unreachable.
